Stroke Symptoms
A stroke may occur when the blood supply to part of your brain is interrupted or reduced, often due to blood vessel blockages caused by cholesterol-induced plaque buildup. Symptoms of a stroke include sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body, confusion, trouble speaking, and severe headache.
A few people will have symptoms of a transient ischemic attack, which often involves temporary symptoms listed above without suffering the permanent damage of stroke. This is a more than subtle way your body can tell you to make adjustments and get the treatment you need to prevent a full-blown stroke.
Heart Attack Symptoms
A heart attack results from the blockage of blood flow to the heart, often caused by atherosclerosis and subsequent plaque rupture. Symptoms include chest pain or discomfort, upper body pain, shortness of breath, and cold sweats. High cholesterol is a significant risk factor for the development of these blockages.
