Olive Oil
Olive oil, one of the hallmark foods of the Mediterranean diet, presents the potential for cancer protection. A comprehensive review spanning 19 studies [11] highlighted a lower risk of breast cancer and digestive system cancers among individuals with higher olive oil intake. Similarly, geographical assessments revealed reduced colorectal cancer rates in regions with elevated olive oil consumption.
Switching to olive oil as a primary cooking or salad dressing component could harness potential health benefits, including cancer risk reduction.
Nuts
Studies associate nut consumption with a reduced risk of various cancers. Observations among large groups found a decreased cancer mortality rate linked to increased nut consumption. [12] Specific nuts, like Brazil nuts high in selenium, demonstrate potential in lung cancer prevention. Additionally, experiments with walnuts in mice showcased a remarkable reduction in breast cancer cell growth and tumor numbers.
