Vegetables
Low-fiber vegetables such as carrots, green beans, mushrooms, acorn squash, and beets cooked without skins and seeds are good for diarrhea.
Experts emphasize cooked vegetables because raw ones may be difficult to digest. Cooked vegetables help to bind the stool and reduce its emptying time.
However, some vegetables may worsen your diarrhea. Avoid broccoli, garlic, onion, pepper, and green leafy vegetables as they cause bloating and add to your discomfort. [9]
Grains
Enriched grains containing less than 2g of fiber per serving are also beneficial. Examples include white rice, puffed rice cereal, and white bread.
A caveat would be to avoid whole grains like brown rice, wheat, and barley. Whole grain grains are high in insoluble fibers which worsens diarrhea. [10]
