High Cholesterol Foods to Choose
Banning cholesterol-rich foods from our plates is wrong for two reasons. First, evidence implicating dietary cholesterol in chronic diseases is limiting. Second, cholesterol-rich foods contain vitamins and nutrients our body needs for optimal functioning.
So, let’s take a look at a few foods with high cholesterol that are generally safe for the average person.
Eggs
Egg cholesterol was believed to contribute to incidences of CVD, however, evidence is not conclusive. [5] This study among the Japanese population found no link between daily consumption of one egg and blood cholesterol. [6] The research aligns with similar studies among the US population.
One egg, about 50.3g contains 207mg of cholesterol. In fact, one egg per day improves the blood’s good cholesterol and offers the heart some sort of protection. Additionally, eggs are an affordable source of high proteins and nutrients that the body needs.
However, research also suggests that increased consumption of eggs for prolonged periods may raise LD. [7] So, 1-2 eggs per day is safe for most people.
