Organ Meats
They are edible internal organs of animals – heart, liver, brain, kidney, etc. These products are high in cholesterol but low in saturated fat.
Additionally, organ meats contain fat-soluble vitamins and minerals like magnesium for bone functions. The selenium content of these meats makes them ideal for people having thyroid dysfunction. What’s more, they contain zinc – an immune booster.
Shellfish
Shellfish such as shrimp, lobster, crab, mussels, scallops, etc are a nutritional powerhouse. They confer various health benefits [11] on the heart, brain and immune system.
Per their cholesterol profile, the crustacean-type (crab, lobster, and shrimp) contains significant cholesterol. For instance, a 3.5-ounce serving of lobster has 146mg. The molluscs don’t contain as much cholesterol. An equal serving, I.e. 3.5 ounces of scallops has 23mg of cholesterol.
Generally, shellfish are high in cholesterol, and low in saturated fat and calories.
