A review article in the Journal of Renal Nutrition reports a positive correlation between low low-protein diet and slower progression of CKD. [15]
A similar review declares that fruits and vegetables instead of bicarbonates have positive effects on kidney function. But a plant-based diet is just the focal point of healthy eating so it’s not certain alkaline diets have stand-alone benefits. [16]
